Rent receipts and HRA — the basics

Receipts are usually required if your HRA claim is more than ₹3,000 a month.
If your annual rent exceeds ₹1 lakh, your employer needs the landlord’s PAN.
A revenue stamp may be needed on receipts where rent is paid in cash above ₹5,000.
